Post your favorite muscle car

I'm not so much a muscle car guy. The mid to late 70s cars, coming of driving age in '79 and learning to drive on twisty mountain roads curbed my previous passion. But when I was a kid, raised on Hot Wheels, I loved them!

My favorite of all time is the metallic blue '69 Camaro, Z28. To me, there were none cooler. And the color was just about exactly the same as my '60 Schwinn Sting Ray I received for my 7th birthday in October of that year. Sealed the deal, whitewall rear tire and all. I still would like a guitar in that color.

I saw a nice looking '69 RS for sale locally recently, in this color. It was sweet. I should have stopped and taken a picture for Mark and you guys that are into that kind of thing.

So, what is your favorite muscle machine of all time?

Marina blue. Makes sense, as I was raised near a marina. Also, given my propensity to enjoy handling, It makes sense I would like the car that is not absolute fastest, but had good handling. http://musclecars.howstuffworks.com/classic-muscle-cars/1969-chevy-camaro-z28.htm I remember discussing all that stuff with my friends back in the day. It was hard for me to find photos of the actual car on photobucket, so this toy pic serves.

And see? even though I am more likely to want to talk about high output classic 4 banger sports cars, coupes and sedans, I can still show some love for a good old muscle car.

I know it is a pony car, and some don't technically consider this a muscle car, but it is badass.

A guy in high school had one just like this, but the convertible.

Close second, the '69 GTO Judge
The man who built my 302 small block engine had one, and I've loved them since.

I like all of the MOPAR muscle cars, though.
The core cars of the Muscle Car era such as the Road Runner, Super Bee, Charger, Challenger, Dart, Coronet, and on and on...
I'd go right back to the 55s with the early HEMIs in them, but there could be an argument that they are not true muscle cars, but more like Businessman's HotRods (without the effort of actually HotRodding them.)

My dad owned a 1956 Dodge D-500...it may have been a D-500-1, as he told stories about beating a Ferrari once on Chicago's Lakeshore drive thru the turns, and one time when a friend of his wanted to find out how fast it would go from 0-100, or some such. My dad traded it in on a Ford station wagon when he & my mom had too many kids :(

Straight line yes, through the turns sounds like driver error.

Mid 60s Chevy II with a big block or a Ford thunderbolt

... But really there are so many possible answers

Sounds like high school to me....you know that guy who always had some tall tales about his car/truck? We had this one guy who swore that he took his stock CK1500 w/ 305 across this local bridge with two absurdly tight, corners at the entrance and exit of the bridge, at 90mph plus. They are such tight turns that today there's a stop sign at both ends of the bridge.

Add me to the '69 Camaro list, although i'd be pretty happy with a 70 Chevelle SS454, 70 Buick GSX, or 70 Olds 442

The Yenco and COPO/ZL-1 Camaros were something not to mess with, but I've never seen in IRL. They are so rare, only wealthy collectors have them now.

I know a guy with one each, all factory orig GT350 and GT500 sitting in his pole barn. The 350 hasn't been run since about 1982 and the 500 swollowed a valve or something in the mid 70s and has been sitting since. They are two of probably 9 or so killer rides this guy has just rotting away.

I can't stand people like that. If you can't/won't fix and drive 'em, then sell 'em. They almost always know what they're worth, too.

Maybe my disdain is because of my ex-father in law. He had a '58 Apache that I practically begged to buy off him. He wouldn't, mainly because he just didn't like me. :) That truck is still there, or what's left. What a damn shame.
