Achtung! Post unpopular music opinions that you have

Did someone mention Floor?

Floor Jansen > Tarja Turunen.
Unpopular opinion?

Throaty Bowie>Nasal Bowie

I don't think that's really an unpopular opinion, just going with the high pitched vs. low pitched conversation.

Female fronted operatic ‘metal’ perpetuates misogynist stereotypes and should have died before it became a thing.

Most modern metal sounds exactly the same, just like Nashville Bro Country. And it's pretty much all Andy Sneap's fault - well, not really, its the fucking idiots who keeps copying him by the numbers without ever doing anything original. The whole djent stuff in particular is just dumb.
I could go on Spotify and sift through a random tune here and there from 10 different albums and couldn't recognize any of the bands if it weren't for the singer's voice.

To me they are like Audioslave and Velvet Revolver. A bunch of generic classic rock tropes with more gain and a much more boring singer. They never get around to writing memorable lyrics like the music they ripoff either. If they had any taste, they wouldn't have hired Linkin Park man.

Their heyday was in the 90s. I stopped listening to any new material by them after that, so I have no idea what Linkin Park man means. It's like criticizing the Beatles for Paul's latest album.

Pearl Jam had much more success than STP, though. In terms of album sales (and ticket sales). STP was MIA for over a decade before Scott Weiland finally died. They weren't exactly doing great when the 2000s came around. Weiland could barely sing in some shows. While Eddie was singing in front of packed arenas all over the world.

Here's US sales album by album.

Ten - 13x Platinum (peak at #1)

Core - 8x Platinum (peak at #3)

Vs. - 7x Platinum (peak at #1)

Purple - 6x Platinum (peak at #1)

Vitalogy - 5x Platinum (peak at #1)

Tiny Music - 2x Platinum (peak at #4)

No Code - Platinum (peak at #1)

No. 4 - Platinum (peak at #6)

Yield - Platinum (peak at #2)

Shangra-La-Di-Da - Gold (peaks at #9)

Binaural - Gold (peak at #2)

STP s/t - Nothing (peak at #2)

Riot Act - Gold (peak at #5)

STP 2 s/t - Nothing (peaks at #24)

Pearl Jam s/t - Gold (peaks at #2)

Again, who cares what Pearl Jam did after the first 2 albums or STP after the first 5?
Just because people need to continue making a living doesn't mean they're any longer relevant. Discerning listeners stop listening to bands after their peak.

The Deleo brothers chose Chester Bennington (from nu-metal band Linkin Park) to be the new singer after Scott Weiland died. And then he also died. Now they have another singer they found on X-Factor.

It's not like criticizing Paul's solo albums, because they are still a band after all. It'd be like criticizing later Beatle albums. Also, there's nothing wrong with criticizing Paul's latest album anyway on it's own. Just because he is old doesn't mean you have to go easy on him.

1) Mick Taylor was probably the best guitar soloist of the early 70s, but this wasn’t really allowed to develop because of Jagger and Richards.

2) Jagger and Richards were probably right.
