Achtung! Post unpopular music opinions that you have

Most people stopped after the first two Pearl Jam albums, if not just Ten. An unpopular opinion would be that Ten is actually really tiresome and sounds too much like Creed in retrospect. And that Vs. and Vitalogy are at least weird enough to be semi-interesting albums.

Your hypothetical stumbled into my actual unpopular opinion. Never liked Ten, still don’t. Vs piqued my interest. Loved Vitology. Super loved No Code and Yield.

Weird that. Ten is the only PJ album I can sort of like. And I hated the whole "grunge" thing to be honest.

I actually hear this about Robert Deleo. But it's like when folks say Flea is a genius. Or Les Claypool. I don't think so, but even if I did it doesn't matter because the band he is in is not very good.

No it's actually not like that because DeLeo didn't spend half his time slapping and popping. The band he was in was genius after they outgrew the grunge thing. One of the best singers I've ever heard live.

Loved Ten, liked Vs, then it seems they started wanting to capture themselves shitting the bed on purpose for the rest of their album recording career. IMO

As for my own unpopular opinions:

My favorite REM album is Monster.
Downtown Train by Rod Stewart is a superior product.

Most musicians and bands peak in their first or second albums. After that creativity declines and overproduction begins.

I agree in most cases. Though I am not sure whether this is an unpopular opinion.

To me they are like Audioslave and Velvet Revolver. A bunch of generic classic rock tropes with more gain and a much more boring singer. They never get around to writing memorable lyrics like the music they ripoff either. If they had any taste, they wouldn't have hired Linkin Park man.

STP and Pearl Jam are two high school besties that bonded over a love of cooking.

STP graduated from CIA, moved to Manhattan and became a successful celebrity chef before succumbing to opiate addiction.

Pearl Jam parlayed a summer job at Carl’s Jr. into becoming a managing partner of a Red Lobster 4 miles from that high school. It’s a good life.

Pearl Jam had much more success than STP, though. In terms of album sales (and ticket sales). STP was MIA for over a decade before Scott Weiland finally died. They weren't exactly doing great when the 2000s came around. Weiland could barely sing in some shows. While Eddie was singing in front of packed arenas all over the world.

Here's US sales album by album.
