Possibly my last post as a free thinker. Goodbye WeinWorld.

Mrs.P

The Wonder Wench
So today is my all day seminar on "Leadership and Self-Deception". I get to learn all about how the problems that I perceive around me are not actually other peoples problems, they are really all mine. From here on out, I will be an out of the box, thinker and acter, and I will no longer lead myself into self-deception.

It's been nice knowing you guys.

If they make you do "trust exercises" where you're supposed to fall into the arms of your coworkers, GTFO pronto!

'Think outside the box'

Does this mean less burger joints for lunch, and more Taco Bell?

My boss sometimes says, "Some people think outside the box, but I'm like, 'what box?'"

The fucking box is useful. To disregard it entirely is irresponsible and lazy. I hate morons.

I try to think out of the box with my wife all the time - she won't let me go near it.

First of all, the term "think outside the box" has become a box.

As a cognitive/behavioral therapist, I believe that our way of looking at a person or situation can cause us problems. I don't however, prescribe to a theory that would say, "the problems that I perceive around me are not actually other peoples problems, they are really all mine." What I need to do is recognize that I cannot change the other person, so I need to change how I deal with that person.

You know, I need to get into that corporate training racket. :thu:

Having read some of the text from her course, it's kind of like this.

Situation:

Christmas day. You're celebrating with your family. Your boss calls in and demands that come in to work to take care of some filing that he needs to get done. This is not your boss causing problems. It's you causing problems because you should have anticipated your boss needing filing done on Christmas day and planned accordingly.

It's utter bullshit.

Just talked to Mrs. P. Apparently she's already told the 'teacher' that the course sounds too much like a cult for her.

It could be a long day for her.

Mrs P, just sit down so that I can continue with the seminar. And don't forget to finish your Kool Aid.

What's worse is that I had to do a bunch of those things in RETAIL. Unsurprisingly, such meetings always sprung up around the holidays.... :annoyed:

Last week I had to take a day long seminar, and the first four hours of it was about how the color of your tie or shirt not only effects they way others perceive you, but also it has an effect on your blood pressure and overall mood.

I responded with "You know, wearing a red tie doesn't raise my blood pressure. Having to sit here all day listening to this crap raises my blood pressure."

I don't think it would do well for Mrs. P and I to be in these classes together. :embarrassed:
