Please talk me out of buying a Fulltone OCD pedal...

I just got my Bassman repaired last month after not being able to use it for a couple of years...I forgot how good they sound...

Read the original thread, the price is due to him having to revert the amp back to original specs from the Marshall mod the previous owner had applied. Apparently he paid a lot over the $400 price of the amp for this service, with that and the amp cover/3-prong cord I think it's a decent deal over buying from some schmuck on eBay and risk damage during shipping.

My main distortion is a Maxon Distortion Master, I also use a BD-2 as a boost/lead. I also have a DS-1 and a Russian Big Muff that I don't use anymore.
 
mod the DS-1 and Muff, and forget about the OCD. you've got a shitload of dirt as it is, just needs to be tweaked.

Which mods to both? I've wanted to mod them for a while, I'm between analogman and keeley. I might be able to mod the muff myself.

really tough to say which mods. i'd have to know what you're going for. there's other guys out there who mod too.

I'll tell you exactly what I'm looking for. I have a little Park practice amp, and it's still my favorite distortion. It's lush, Marshall distortion that approaches the Smashing Pumpkins wall of sound type of sound. I want a distortion pedal that can range from subtle to more distortion than I need in one box. I used the big muff for a while but it's not tight enough, I'm sure with some mods it might be perfect.

yeah, there's a ton of mods you can do to a Russian Muff that will make it less mushy and more focused. i'm sure its just a matter of googling them.

the thing about the muff is that its really an on or off pedal. not a lot of subtlety there. but its great for what it does.

Exactly, not the most versatile option. I'll have to look into modding it myself, not like it's an expensive pedal or anything. Any other suggestions?
 
Interesting, although I'd like to see if I could mod my existing big muff for the boosted mids instead of building a pedal from scratch (which I'd definitely bitch up). I don't know what the hell to do, there are so many options and I've yet to find a distortion that matches what I'm looking for.
 
you can definitely mod the tone circuit of your muff. check HCFX. there's a wealth of info there on that kinda stuff.
 
I'm going all out. I'm sending my BD-2 and DS-1 to Keeley for mods, and I'll find some info online to mod my Big Muff myself. If that doesn't settle it, I'm taking up the tuba.
