Given the absolute consistency of poor aesthetics over the years I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that the same guy has been making their style decisions right from the start and still is.
On the flip side my heartburn is gone.
That was one of the things I always felt bad about looking at the finished instruments that got returned that were being sold at a discount on the Carvin website. They’re 90% custom. They make what customers ask them to make. They’d be happy to crank out a bunch of clown-burst singlecuts if that’s what their customers wanted.

The people had way too many options and way too many ways to mean well, but end up making an absolutely butt ugly instrument. Then return it because they weren't 100% satisfied. Quilted maple wings on a walnut neck-thru with clown burst? Okay, no problem, 100% satisfaction guaranteed. If you don't like it for any reason just return for a refund.
Fair enough. I only based my opinion by those clunkers on the website. Espc after they let folks pick their burst colors. Yellow inside with magenta outer... And so on.OTOH, I bought a natural wood DC127t with nearly no options. I received garbage hardware and electronics, and off center side dots. If you can't even get the side dots right, you're in bad shape.

Let it go.
I sold it.
I hope it haunts you forever.

We all know that in the guitar world, shit happens. We also that shit still happens even when the culprit is a high end and expensive guitar.OTOH, I bought a natural wood DC127t with nearly no options. Jeff Kiesel posted this guitar on Instagram and noted it was for an endorsee. The knob is where whomever that may be wants it.
I'm telling you guys, forget your preconceptions about "Carvin" guitars. The instruments coming out of the Kiesel are phenomenal. The aesthetics obviously aren't for everyone, but the build quality, materials, playability etc are as good or better than anything out there.
