Hot or Not? Pink Kiesel Edition!

Given the absolute consistency of poor aesthetics over the years I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that the same guy has been making their style decisions right from the start and still is.

On the flip side my heartburn is gone.

They’re 90% custom. They make what customers ask them to make. They’d be happy to crank out a bunch of clown-burst singlecuts if that’s what their customers wanted.

That was one of the things I always felt bad about looking at the finished instruments that got returned that were being sold at a discount on the Carvin website.

The people had way too many options and way too many ways to mean well, but end up making an absolutely butt ugly instrument. Then return it because they weren't 100% satisfied. Quilted maple wings on a walnut neck-thru with clown burst? Okay, no problem, 100% satisfaction guaranteed. If you don't like it for any reason just return for a refund.

OTOH, I bought a natural wood DC127t with nearly no options. I received garbage hardware and electronics, and off center side dots. If you can't even get the side dots right, you're in bad shape.

Fair enough. I only based my opinion by those clunkers on the website. Espc after they let folks pick their burst colors. Yellow inside with magenta outer... And so on.

I'm not sure I care for seeing the wood thru the pink stain. I'd much rather just have it solid pink. I could live with a pink DC200 :)

It has a headstock belly cut.

I’d play that, no problem....with a P90 and move the volume up near the strat location.

We all know that in the guitar world, shit happens. We also that shit still happens even when the culprit is a high end and expensive guitar.

It sucks that you got a total turdburger. That horrible after taste lasts much longer when the offender nicked you for big coin. In some cases (Gibson?) It can drive a person to swear off ever entertaining the notion of buying their wares again.

I'm not a fanboi (yet), but I think it needs to be noted that Keisel is NOT Carvin. Yes, it is what at one time was the Carvin guitar Division, but is run by the "Smart" brother in a very quality obsessed fashion that simply was not allowed under the old guard. Unlike Carvin, which was run by the "Not Smart" brother after the buyout/split into bankrupt Oblivion, Keisel is a profitable and growing company with a bright future.

It would be a shame to dismiss them based on prejudices that began with the Carvin brand. For all intent and purpose, they are a new company with good leadership and highly experienced builders working in a new state of the art facility.

Jeff Kiesel posted this guitar on Instagram and noted it was for an endorsee. The knob is where whomever that may be wants it.

I'm telling you guys, forget your preconceptions about "Carvin" guitars. The instruments coming out of the Kiesel are phenomenal. The aesthetics obviously aren't for everyone, but the build quality, materials, playability etc are as good or better than anything out there.

Probably very good guitars, but I still fucking hate how they look. :embarrassed:

Almost Dean level of consistently ugly guitars. Almost.

I’d hit it!

Played a fanned fret Kiesel a couple of weeks ago. Amazing instrument!

I'd potentially like it if the finish was solid - don't care for the grain, particularly not where the grain of the thru-neck is so different from the grain of the wings.
