With all the hype about the Klon, let your ears be your guide!

I also love what one of the replys are:

Loved my Klon, but sold it after seeing what people were willing to Pay for it. Its a Great pedal , But NO pedal is worth North of $600! if you need a pedal that bad you need to start looking at a new Amp or some other gear. Just my $0.02

The Lovepedal sounds good, but I still prefer the Klon. Sounds more articulate and somehow pleasant. I wish I preferred the Lovepedal, though. So much easier to get.... :(

Slightly off-topic, but what are some good cheap pedals for getting mild-to-classic rock overdrives?

That EVH III 50w head I got has a nice clean channel and I love the massive amounts of gain both drive channels have for metal, but dialing in a classic rock overdrive is more of a chore. I think I just need to get a decent pedal for milder gain and use it on the clean channel

I love the Barber LTD Silver and SR models. You can probably find a used one for $100 or less online since they discontinued them. I'm using the Barber UNLTD version (the newer one)in my big rig and I'm waiting for the new "Gain Changer" version to be released for my smaller board.

Not $600

Seems like most new pedals in the Sweetwater catalogue are roughly $200, give or take. I was thinking cheaper than that. Maybe I'd have to go used?

I've got a couple old (but still very functional) boss dirt pedals I'd sell you on the cheap if you're interested. I'll even be in south bend this weekend. PM me if you're interested :)

here's cheap: use your guitar's volume knob.

Why not just back off on the gain of one of the drive channels, iirc that has independant gain knobbys...set it up with clean/crunch/stuidgain and cover all the bases? Or just back off the volume on the lower gain of the two, like Howie suggested.
