Nobody's equivocating sexual assault with a sucker punch. (And I say that as a survivor of both)

The point is that physical assault is simply inexcusable and unjustifiable, save for the exception of self-defence. And even that would be unnecessary in a well-lit arena covered by security guards.

No amount of language or gesturing can constitute sufficient provocation for violence.

This is a concept ingrained in my children, all three of them under the age of 10, and one simple enough for them to understand fully.

The point of non-violent protest is to provoke. Gandhi and MLK knew that their protests would incite instances of barbarism. That's how you show the barbarians to the world. And it's telling that protesters seem to know exactly where to look for them.

Well said.

Although, I think comparing this protester to Gandhi or MLK is extremely generous. I'd argue the actions on both sides are inexcusable, but I don't know that I'd go as far as unjustifiable. I get why both sides felt the need to act the way they did, but don't necessarily agree with either sides actions.

I think at some point you have to be willing to throw as well as take a punch. Thus my statement earlier about consequences, which sort of derailed the discussion into rape territory. I didn't mean for that.

If anyone is unsure about the end game on this one, i'd be surprised, not shocked, but surprised.

I wish we lived in a world where people could be judged by the content of their character instead of the color of their skin.

Why does it have to be a black protester? Why can't it just be a protester? Oh, that's right, more people will click on our link if we have something racial in the title, and we'll sell more adds. Yippie.

I think that race is an important part of the story. And one of the major reasons why the protestors were there in the first place. And yeah, there've been plenty examples of racism at Trump events; use of the N-word has repeatedly documented, to dent the tip the icebergs.

Race is never going away. The legacy of slavery and racism are part of the country's DNA, and failing to acknowledge that is simply... Intellectually weak, at best, or dishonest at worst.

Yeah, we'd all love a colour-blind America. But that's a fantasy. Buy the world a Coke instead.

Yeah, let's all deflect from the actual issue here

I wish we lived in a world where politics was replaced with My Little Pony, where shamrock shakes tasted good, and where the neighbor dog that craps on my lawn pooped nothing but diamonds and collector quality vintage rickenbackers.

"Being American is about getting escorted out of a facility in your hometown while onlookers chant, "go home niggers."
