OMG Politics, I'm over it already.

Where's Ross Perot these days? :)

Warren Buffet?
Bill Gates?
Colin Powell? ( I know he has rejected a political run in the past, but you never know)

I could see Kasich dropping out and making an independent run.

It's too late for that this cycle. If somebody wanted to be on the ballot in Texas this year, they'd need to collect 80,000 signatures of registered voters who did not vote in the primary. That'd have to be completed and verified before May 9. Not happening.
And there are other states with even more restrictive rules than that.

I can really only see two ways that the two-party system can end:

1) Ideally, instant runoff voting would be accepted. However, this is unlikely, since it doesn't benefit anyone in office.

2) The total decimation of one single party, possibly in consecutive elections.

Presently, I don't see how an electable (that's the key word) 3rd-party President could help the country more than the best of the current given options.

Make sure your papers are in order. They don't like illegals.

Yeah, we're fucked.

Ever wonder how certain candidates would react in a situation like Stillson character was placed in Stephen King's The Dead Zone?
For those who have not read the book or seen the movie version, the lead character develops a contact psychic ability and later touches an up and coming politician Stillson's hand and has a vision of an older Stillson as President, causing a worldwide nuclear conflict.
(I am not condoning anyone to test this theory)

The best thing that could happen for the country is Cruz and Sanders both run as independents. Since they are both considered outsiders, I could see either one of them pushing for an instant runoff voting system. Hell, I could even see Trump doing it.

Even then, it'd be really hard if not impossible to get it through congress. The last guy who actually wanted to change Washington was Jimmy Carter and we all see how that went.

I don't think that's quite fair/accurate.

Carter was ahead of his time, though.

Watch his 'Crisis of Confidence' speech today, and you're like "wow, he was 100% correct, the US and the world would be in better shape today if people had listened and had bought it".

He gets shit because he couldn't sell it, and because people are the worst and they voted for the Emperor's New Clothes instead; 'Morning in America', etc. It happens time and time again.

I'm curious, why don't you think that's fair?

He wanted to change Washington and Washington didn't, and I'd argue doesn't, want to change.

I think his long term legacy will be much more positive than most people give him credit for now, because he was ahead of his time.

That's probably true of many politicians.

See: Obama speeches in 2008 vs Obama in 2015 talking about race or mass shootings.

Flip side, it's a very good thing that Ron Paul's economics weren't embraced.

Got ya.

I wasn't sure if you were referring to that or the fact that Carter's legacy as president is not currently seen as positive by most people.

With regards to the razzle dazzle hope and change, I really should leave off bullshit because we should keep this civil :), I never bought into it. To me, it's been Washington as usual. Perhaps a big part of that is Obama's opposition in congress having a take my ball and go home attitude. No way to know at this point.

I have a confession to make. I can not say "Marco Rubio" unless I'm using Ed Sullivan's voice when he would announce a Topo Gigio appearance.

And I can't say it without seeing him in his gay stripper outfit from his college days lol.
