Now I want a Jazzmaster again.

That @smurfco Lollar thread, and finding @Peen Simmons suggestion of this guitar in a JM thread.

I don't really care about the paint chips in the headstock that much.

And would give me budget to f*&k with bridge and pickups if I want.

Hmm.

I mean I do have my CV telecaster with the A3 magnet bridge and P90 in the neck, which sonically is probably close enough for anything I really need. But still, ...

@Chad you better get in on this too. And yeah, a Warmoth build would be fun. But starting with this and modding would probably be easier/cheaper.

JM pickups are not P90s by the way. A very different sound and construction even if they look similar. Just another reason to add to your collection - it'll be a new sound.

also also - and I am not sure about the one on Reverb - but a lot of recent Fender Jazzmasters have come with what are essentially Strat pickups under the covers rather than the true wide, flat bobbins that "real" JM pickups are made of.

Yeah, I know they are different. The tele could be close enough from a practical point of view, and especially what I really do with guitar. But...

Honestly, though, my collection pretty much covers the rainbow... Although I don't have any yellow. LOL

I've wanted one since I sold my CIJ Jag. Used offsets are kind of rare where I live though, but of course I could always get a Vintera. I'd just rather find one with a bit of history and character.

Not sure the 60th Ann I picked up from Reverb will have much history, but as long as it arrives in good order, it should serve nicely. Then I can play with pickups and see if I want some of those Lollars like @smurfco has (hey, where do I get info on those?) as I want the older sound rather than brighter/surfier. But will just see how I like it stock first.

Probably going to sell my TV yellow Epi LP Special with P90s, and maybe one other guitar, to help offset this purchase,. (see what I did there? )

As an alternative to Lollar check out Sunday Handwound. If there's not a model exactly like what you want talk to Tim and he can wind you something nice. I've got a set of Woodies (regular bridge, not plus) and a '59 inspired set he wound for me as well as a Wanda for Jaguar set. A set of Freds might do what you want.

Bread and butter, the best of my custom Jazzmaster work distilled into ready-to-ship sets with no lead time. Wound RWRP for hum-cancelling in the middle position. The aged polepiece sets, "Fred's" and "Spooky Iola's", are lacquered vintage-style.

It appears that my 60th comes with the Fender AV65 pickups, which a lot fo the guys on some Offset forum I found like. But I did really like the sound of those Lollars @smurfco had. Will walk this out a step at a time and see.
