Gonna walk my dog, you?
It's cool if you want to build a frankenstrat, but that looks damn nice. You clear it until it's smooth and wet sand buff until it's like glass. That body looks awesome.

It says, based on 70 degree temperatures, that it's dry in 48 hours. It's been significantly hotter than 70 degrees. It hit 94 while I was outside and has stayed around 70 degrees by the AC in the dining room (which doesn't quite get as cool in my office, where the body is currently hanging).give it a week with that
It stays tacky forever.
Besides the fact that I already have two black Strats I have seriously been dreaming about a B&W Franky for years. It's cool if you want to build a frankenstrat, but that looks damn nice. You clear it until it's smooth and wet sand buff until it's like glass. That body looks awesome.
I'm more likely to spill Dr Pepper, but same idea. LOLI highly doubt that Eddie ever wet sanded unless he spilled his beer on the guitar and wiped it with a scrubbie
You are truly nuts. I love it.My "Frankie"....
Rattle can finish on swamp ash body.... tele neck and bridge, Duncan Custom Shop in the bridge, Eric Johnson single in the neck, push pull volume selects either humbucker or both cream coils.

Grain is still visible but not wood colored, so once it's try I should be ready for taping. Gonna leave it for 48 hours to properly dry (besides, Ed's was black for a while before it was B&W) and then it'll get taped up.
Ed definitely did the same on his. No thick layers of paint. You'd see the separation between the layers as a ridge.I left the grain exposed on my Blue, Black and White one. I really dig the look.

It's not absolutely 100% perfectly accurate but its probably about as close as I'm am capable. I have two modes when it comes to artistic stuff: get it 98% right or spend four months doing it over and over again, losing hair, and giving up when its 97% right.
That's what I did with this about 15 years ago. There is no way I could try to duplicate it. I would end up just striping it my own way because I would go mental if I got it 90% of the way there and had a stripe or 2 just out of place.

You know, the squiggle on the bass side of the pickguard... That was a PITA. I ended up taking my tape, putting on a clear piece of plastic (the wrapper from the pinstripe size tape), and tracing a 1:1 size printout of the real thing. I then cut around the line with my Swiss Army Knife, put the whole piece of tape on the body, and carefully peeled the execess off.
LOL
I'm wondering what wear spots I will cause on it myself.
Oddly enough, my other Franky doesn't have much friction wear at all. Just a few dings here and there. I did apply more coats of each color to that than I'm doing with this, though.
