New project: What if EVH never painted Franky red?

I have to look at the ends once I sand out the remaining sealer to see how many planks it is.

Looks like a fun project munch0
I'm hoping.

I'll probably get the Explorer done first, which I'm going to get on again once it's above freezing outside. I really just need to stain it, apply the TruOil, and then install everything. The hard parts are complete.

With this project, I need to sell a couple necks I have first then get an appropriate neck for this. I have almost everything else already.

I'm actually working on an Eddie-inspired project too.....

.... it shares some roots in this guitar. :helper:

Funny how weather affects all projects...

So, the body I originally asked about will probably end up being a completely different project as I scored a sweet deal on this (just the body).

As described: "Musikraft Franky Body, 2pc Northern Ash, pre-Azusa 28 version. Nothing wrong with this body other than its crazy Acrylic Lacquer checker board paint job might not be your taste. input jack and pick guard included. It is NOT drilled to even remotely be an exact franky clone."

I asked him what he meant by the last sentence and he said that it's not drilled for a 6-screw trem as the original Franky would have been, which is perfectly fine for me.

So, now I need to sell my Warmoth Variax neck (which I may start another thread about) and get myself a good Strat neck with an R2 nut shelf and a black one-ply pickguard with only a humbucker cutout.

you could light it on fire.......if it takes less than 10 minutes to completely burn, then it's basswood, however if it takes more like 20 to 30 minutes then it's poplar.

You do know that the Frankenstrat that Eddie primarily played Pre-Kramer was the same one the whole time. It was modded... necks changed, etc...

then it was painted red on top...

... and the pickguard and pickup were swapped out.

Oh, yes, I'm quite aware. It started out as a Boogie Bodies Strat body that was a 2nd because the neck pocket was a bit off (which is why when you look at really early close-ups the high E looks like it's about to fall off the fretboard).

The basic idea is that it'll be striped like the first pic you posted, have that full pickguard still, but have a Floyd and quite possibly the 1971 quarter.

I never liked Franky with the white pickguard... I'm glad that was actually short lived.

There was a point where there was no pickguard at all and the volume pot was held on with electrical tape.

Also, the neck that's on the Dragon guitar there has lived on not only Franky as well but on the Bee (which is pictured there with the neck that's actually currently on Franky today).
