Movie genres you hate

i am also not interested in the whole super hero genre or any star wars after the trilogy.
the batman movie with michael keaton and jack nicholson....that was it, for me.

I don't hate but Ive no inclination to watch any rom coms or the Marvel stuff / anything with loads of CGI and extended fight sequences.
Not a fan of Asian martial arts movies then?

I love those.

I know a lot of people who do... I get that they're predicable, consistent, comfort food for fans of them. One could argue that my comfort food template is Comic Book movies which many others are tired of, so I totally get different strokes for different folks. :helper:

Superhero movies

Biopics that try to cram someone's entire life into a 2 hour movie. Wish there were more that just focus on a specific incident or period in someone's life. Like, don't do a Miles Davis biopic, do a movie about recording Kind of Blue or something.

I really can't stand the "tough guy doing what he has to do" stuff anymore, and watching historical fiction makes me crazy, as I can't keep myself from trying to parse fact from fiction. And any time I see Tom Cruise, DiCaprio, or Johnny Depp in a movie, I can't believe that they are not themselves.

I won't do violence porn. Saw and Hostel and shit like that. I don't even really dig traditional slasher flicks anymore. I love blood and guts, don't get me wrong--but it has to be perpetrated by some kind of supernatural/demonic character. Regular people committing horrifying acts on other people makes me sick.

Cheezy level CGI, regardless of genre.

I liked Jackie Chan and stuff like that when I was younger.

I'm not much of a TV or movie person in general these days but it wouldn't be my first choice to watch now.

Hallmarks-action-porn-snuff films and anything Disney.
Oh, and anything where a bunch of friends dance around a kitchen or dining room table.

Hate is a strong word, but I'm generally disinterested in sports movies, with few exceptions. Rush and Ford Vs Ferrari were entertaining, but Driven was a disaster, and the new F1, I mean what were they thinking, a 60 y/o formula one driver, eh? I really think Brad should Pitt.

at least Ford vs Ferrari was mostly factual on the events. sure there was stuff that they had to fill in with because nobody knows what was said and done in private. from what i've read/seen, the one big "made up" thing in that movie was the fight between carroll and ken in the yard. never happened. don't know why the film makers decided that had to be in there.

If you ask me to go see a lengthy movie from the courtroom/trial genre, i will feed you some bullshit on how I would love to, but don't have the time.
I'm the same guy that will catch that movie at a later date, then tell you it was actually pretty good.

These are the movies that feed you crime stats as the credits roll. Perhaps they tell you were people's lives are 20 years down the road.
" Billy died in prison. Betty continues to fight for ducks rights".

Agree. Torture-porn movies really bothers me. I have too much empathy for the victims. It makes my brain go to a very dark place that I can’t stand. Man’s inhumanity to man is a tough area for me. I can’t even tolerate cruelty to animals, much less people.

The girl who does my wife’s hair loves torture-porn movies. Thankfully, my wife does not like those types of movies.

My wife’s favorite type of flicks are scary movies. I like scary movies if they’re done well. Unfortunately, so few of them are worth watching. When my wife finds a new scary movie title to watch, I look up the rating on Rotten Tomatoes. If it’s not rated at least 7 out of 10 on the audience score, I watch the first few minutes with my wife and then sneak off to do something else for 90 minutes. Life is too short to watch bad movies.

yea, torture movies are a big NO for me also.
i watched Misery to about half way. to this day, anytime i see Kathy Bates i wanna take an axe to her head.
i KNOW she was just acting, but some shit you just can not unsee.

I guess the writers had a desire to depict how passionate the characters were, and perhaps we shouldn't care too much about what really happened and how. I remember an interview where someone was talking about how the car chase scene in The French Connection was one big metaphor for just how bad Hackman's character wants to catch the baddies, like much of this is more about a state of mind rather than actual events.
