i gotta sell some other amps nowwww

HNAD! Woot! :thu:

I’ve said it before, one of the best live electric guitar sounds I’ve ever heard was Jorma Kaukonen playing Epiphone guitars through a Carr amp with the band Hot Tuna.

So I guess there's not too much to add but it was late last night and I wanted to have time to mangle the dangler before I fell asleep...

It was $1500 which I feel like is a pretty good price for a Carr amp, considering these are $3300 or so new. This amp is interesting because the power section has both a 6L6 and an EL84. It's weird but I can definitely hear the mix of Fender and Vox/Marshall that this unusual tube combination provides. There are also a couple mode switches - Lean/Lush which adds low end in the Lush mode, and 53/58 which switches between an early 50s Fender tweed feel and a later more "British" feel. Very simple controls otherwise - Volume, Tone, Reverb, and a built in attenuator that goes from 0 to 17 watts. It is LOUD.

Like every Carr I've ever played it is hard to get a bad sound out of it. It's definitely a different flavor than my Carr Impala, which is based on a 60's blackface Bassman and is a much cleaner sounding amp. My pedal board sounds REALLY good through the Telstar, especially my Tubedreamer (JAM's take on the TS). It really is a fantastic amp and I'm glad I got it. I think I need to sell some amps though, I'm running out of closet space...
