Milo Baughman Recliner 74

A good chair is worth a lot, especially if it is a place of relaxation.

People here of means have reading recliner/ottomans that are in the 5-7,000 range. It is kind of a thing to have in your house. Good ones are rosewood or other exotic wood and leather. It is where a person of depth considers the world and day's events. If you don't have one of these, or a 11th century bishropic throne, you are a redneck.

The Eames chair is cool looking. But the Ekornes Stressless (Norway) supports my back way better. That one tends to have my lumbar sync backwards into the chair joints with the back rest without enough support.

my intent is ultimately for two chairs. One in my homeoffice/entertainment/music room, and one for the living room.

This one that we currently purchased as part of redoing the living room but it might get swapped out with something like the Recliner 74 in the living room if I get one. As then we are not dealing with an Ottoman there.

This Stressless is not an Eames, nor a Wegnar Egg Chair, but has an egg chair vibe in some ways. And is super comfortable.

I have a couple Yrjo Kukkapuro lounge-y swivel chairs from sometime in the 60s that my ex rescued from a dumpster when NYU was re-doing their student union. by far my coolest furniture.

I am interested in one. You can get them new at DWR (Design within reach) for quite a sum, and there are various used ones available at the usual used furniture websites.

I have seen restored ones on Etsy for about half this one. New seems north of mid 3k and up at DWR.

Black leather seems to be the classic look. Not sure I would be into that. DWR wants 5k for a new leather one. https://www.dwr.com/living-rocking-...SkBJR8Vx6wPL3jZBo2UaAsqtEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

"at the usual used furniture websites."

I was oblivious to the fact that there are used furniture websites.

I’ll do that when I don’t have kids who would inevitably trash an expensive chair in a day. Our dining table is destroyed and we still haven’t hit the age when they don’t get bored during dinner and gouge the tables with their forks. I never understood why people buy rough tables made from slabs of reclaimed wood until I realized that they hide kid damage. It also explains why Ikea furniture is so popular with young couples—no point buying stuff that’s just going to get trashed.

Anybody remember string art?

Preteen, working at her parent's dinning room table, my now wife, hammered all the nails in then, went to pick it up. Couldn't.

I don’t think that’s why I’m a redneck
