Mattress Jam

Never tried one but a friend of mine swears by sleep number.

Avoid tempurpedic like a plague of bedbugs.

What ever you buy, know how long th return window is and what the warranty will and will not cover.

i got one of those memory foam mattresses about 3 weeks ago, 8" thick. it has a sandwich of two different densities of foam in it. top layer is more 'moldable'....then the lower layer is much more dense and supportive. i love it. i don't know how well (or not) it would work for 2 people, but i would think very well.
edit: oh yea.....it was $130 (twin size)

So what you’re saying is, your mattress is a sandwich.

See above. We have the Purple and a Casper. They are both awesome.
how are they in the summer , hot ..or not ? Those are what I was going to look at down the road but quite frankly my 17 year old Serta Perfect sleeper is still good.

They are very cool. I was worried about them being very hot, but they seem to have addressed that issue.

My current mattress is a fancy Swiss thingamajig. I don't think they exist in America. What I can offer from my last mattress is to avoid memory foam like the plague. It is comfortable as hell at first, but after a while you really sink in deep and it isn't super comfortable as you can get 'stuck' in a position and can't turn over easily. I found myself feeling 'stuck' and waking up to change positions. Not restful at all. The shit is HOT in the summer, and it isn't so pleasant to sleep on if you always feel warm at night, even if you have your AC on all the time. Also, the lack of springs and rebound, and the sinking in phenomenon makes it less than ideal for "marital relations". Never again.

I can concur that many memory foam mattresses can be hot sleepers but they don't have to be and that's remedied with a number of different covers or mattress materials.
Otherwise, the multiple density mattresses we've had don't do the deep sink and don't have the problem you mention with the lack of springs/rebound.

We're on our second memory foam mattress in 12-14 years or so on an Ikea adjustable slat platform base. Just got a new one that wasn't very expensive in the last year. Can't imagine ever going back to conventional mattress/box spring combos.

yea, my memory foam matt is very supportive and does not 'fold up' around me at all.
