There's a very serious issue with these JM's, as well as the recent "American Professional" Jazzmasters.
The pickups are total bullshit. They're essentially Strat pickups. The wide, shallow bobbin that is an enormous part of the JM sound isn't there. For a long time "Jazzmaster people" (yeah, sue me) disliked this about the Fender Japan JM's. It was more or less assumed that part of acquiring a Japanese JM would be a pickup swap.
But when FMIC chose those disliked pickups to be the stock standard on their new, flagship US Jazzmaster, I just wonder what they're thinking.
