What a way to hit a milestone. Last March I was demoted from being a department manager but was fortunate to have no pay cut. I was already planning my exit from the company prior as I was prepariong for retirement the following March on the Friday the 13th, 2026. The positive was that the demotion helped me to reduce some stress due to the projects from the job and really focus on my retirement projects. All was moving smooth until September 2025 when I notice blood in my stool. Two things could happen, 1 - Hemorroids and 2 - Cancer.

September was six months to my 65th b-day and I start to see blood in my stool. F-r-a-g-i-le! @#$%^&*()_+

I made an appointment with my GI Doctor and didn't get a colonoscopy appoint for 5 months....ugh. My last checkup was almost 9 years and had a clean bill of health back then.

Weiners, don't hesitate to get yourself checked. It is a necessary must!!!!

As I was coming out of my propofol moment, my GI Doc tells me that they found a mass that is probably cancer......F-r-a-g-i-l-e...(.the song "You Can't Always Get What You Want" begin to ring through my head.) Following this my awesome GI Navigator Nurse guided me through the entire process and scheduled all of my necessaru appointments.

Went into the hospital this past Monday to have Collerectal Surgery and it got postponed until Tuesday due to low blood pressure. Tuesday the surgery went well and it took me two days to recover. At home now and feeling good as I recover. No guitar for now as my limitation is 5-10lbs so it is ukelele and mandalin.

So now that stage 1 is complete, onward to completing recovery and follow ups with the Oncologists to see if or what type of chemo I will need. Hopefully none. I will be on disability for a few months with retirement still ahead.

Much mojo. At least, these days the procedures and treatments have better outcomes than in past. I wish you a speedy recovery. May your tests come back clear.

Just a minor update. Walking one mile in the morning and one in the evening. Best part is that my pain on a scale of 1-10 is at one as of now. Occasionally a 2 only when waking up from laying down and all is getting better.

Thanks for the mojo and prayers all!!!

Aw jeez! Major mojo coming your way! Glad the surgery went well.
I’ve got a colonoscopy scheduled for next week.

Colonoscopies are a pain in the ass, but very important. My mother died from colon cancer, so I get one every five years. I wish they were as common back when was alive; she might have been diagnosed before the cancer spread.

Ugh. Max mojo. I'm a year out from prostate cancer surgery, and like 15 from throat (tonsil/lymph). Currently at my Mom's, she's had lung cancer (not a smoker, either) and esophageal, and my brother (who lives with her) had testicular cancer is like 40 years out.

Fuck cancer.

Interesting part is there needs to be more education on this topic for the younger peeps.
