Looking for a new delay

I still like my carbon copy, and am using it for slap back and ambience, and in fact using reverb less often as a result. But I am but a noob with too many pedals, still learning to use them. I have more delays in my M9 that have tap tempo function as I finally learn how to use that feature. So, will be interested in how you and your wife like your new delay, and how you end up using it.

My quest this year with effects is to “just try stuff” and figure out how to use stuff I have, and see what I can get rid of to pare down my Pedalboard Galactica. And also to figure out what effects work better with my two amps. and then ultimately sell some stuff. But I am not super good at selling stuff.

I like @Guitar Heel ’s little shelves he has with extra effects, kinda like the JHS pedal guys have. But, not sure I want to go down THAT road.

So, for now, my goal is to just to learn to use the stuff I have well, and not buy anything.
All 4 used to be full, with more on 4 boards. I’m downsizing...a little. Haha.

It ships Monday. Will report back.

I’m fascinated by folks that have that many options for effects. How do you decide what to use and more specifically if you’re jamming with folks how does your brain keep up with that and playing? Like do you keep a certain selection on for a whole song and just punch in a certain thing for a solo or something or are you constantly changing it up?

thanks!

I need to do more videos.

I also did a set for peen stock a few weeks ago along with Gary, Chicken Man, smurphco, peen, and some other folks from all over.
Very cool! I am sorry I missed that! I was busy with holiday stuff and ski job.

I would rearrange my boards every week. I still tinker with them a lot, with a massive re-org last week. It can lead to decision paralysis for sure. I’m sorta kinda trying to get down to one of each circuit (for overdrives), but I’m doing a bad job. Getting ready to sell a stack but will have a lot left.

when we were doing open mics, I’d basically use one light overdrive and some other modulation effect. That’s really it. Pedalboard Gallactica is just for fucking around at home.

understood.

(Sing to the tune of its the most wonderful time of the year)

It’s the most
busy time
of the year

He’s got a video of it posted if you’re interested.
I am. I will find it later when I have time. I love stuff like that. I find it inspiring to see others getting after it and putting themselves out there.

Wife likes it, go for it.

My thing is just don't buy stuff to buy stuff. We all do it. I certainly do it. But don't spend $300 just because some forum dudes say to either.

My advice is only build the board you need. You don't need to be well rounded or buy things "just in case". Dragging Pedalstar Galactica to the gig and only using 3 pedals sucks. Once you figure out what you're going to use, get a board and power supply that support it.

I have been guilty of both these things. Although the gigs were practice sessions or just playing out for beer and pub food. And as I said, now I am using what I have, seeing what I like with each amp, and not buying pedals until I find that I need to really replace something as what I have won't work for what I want to do. And I have a lot of exploration and learning to get to that point. Just the M9 has a lot of possibilities in it that should work for me.

Meanwhile, I have plenty of delay possibilities available. And I think I will keep the Carbon Copy.

still in the process of sorting that out, but the options are

Boss tu2
Jackson Audio Bloom
Electro Harmonic Nano grail
Full tone fat boost (apparently the guys a tool this may get replaced or cut. The bloom has a nice boost function)
TC ditto

it would also be great to have volume pedal, but that takes a lot of real estate.

if I can make it work LR baggs para. Not for this signal chain but to not have to carry it around separately. I use it for keyboard, acoustic, or resonator.

I also have a modded CS 9 that does a rotary thing. It’s fun.

How are you powering the Audio Bloom now?

I like the CC a lot, but I don’t like the self oscillation. If it were modded to limit the sweep of that knob I’d love it.

It hasn’t actually been on the board. I’ve only used it with a 9v adapter.

The pedal board has been needing to be redone for a while now.

The Audio Bloom needs 300ma. That's a lot. If you have the PP2+, you could get an amperage doubler cable and use your 2 250 ma outputs to power it but then, you can't power the El Cap. Probably keep using the 9v adapter for the Audio Bloom.

Holy Grail says it needs 103 ma. Really? Why would they do that?

Holy Grail originally came out before power bricks really became popular.

Rhino may want to look at the TrueTone CS7 and some of its competitors.

I appreciate the input. Out of my depth here. Do you mind explaining why?

edit: it’s a 2 plus. Don’t know if that changes things
