Lick of the Week - Up the Down 6th Chord (with contest!)

Well, yesterday I put together a 130 bpm drum track for this, and later today I plan on recording a really simple 12-bar rhythm track... As soon as I had drums to jam to, all of a sudden I felt it much more, and the rhythm guitar track will really help...

I have come to the conclusion that I am incapable of playing something perfect, and I always tend to improvise, which is why recording always is a frustration, because I catch my mistakes and stop playing... So, I have decided to just wing it, and I plan on attempting to show the basic idea of adding the 6th tone in the first 12 bars... From there, I am adding the 7th and 4th tones a bunch, as well, and sometimes a flat 5th... Hopefully it won't be to wanky...

Hopefully, it will get across the idea of the lesson, but also where I have taken it in my own hacking kind of way... It sure is fun to do, and this chord tone soling stuff is really cool... My country/hillbilly chops are progressing...

Heck, when I get it down, I'm shooting for 180 bpm! Seriously, though, this is more of a chicken pickin kind of sound I'm going for, although I can't hybrid pick, and 130 bpm seems perfect... It's fun, at least...

Glad you liked it! It is certainly a far cry from the original lesson, but what can I say! I have a lot more riff ideas stemming from this and the comp lessons I took... If I keep at it, I should get a lot tighter, I hope...

hahah. i just happened to watch the South Park where Jimmy Buffet plays Cartman's HIV benefit yesterday.
 
I got nuthin. spend all weekend driving all over Idaho for track and soccer. Work tomorrow, and boy scouts tomorrow night. It was nice to see your stuff though, you that contributed. T-man, I liked that. Turn that thing up just a bit! It deserves it!

PSR, I liked yours too. Changed the feel of it quite a bit at that tempo and in that context. A cool tweak of the idea.
