Having worked at a place where a large minority of the staff were Filipino, I have to say I agree with that. The staff break room always smelled like a filming of "The Undersea World of Jacque Cousteau"...

Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the Mr. Coffee coffee maker. They were the standard in the US for a long time. I think they are still around, but not as big as they once were, and may be unknown in Europe.
