How much toner was in that damn thing? Even a full cartridge wouldn't have that much!

Likely the waste toner cartridge was full -- many printers just stop printing and refuse to continue when this happens -- and he didn't have a replacement. It looks like he tried to empty the full one and then put it back in so he could continue to print. It seems to have gone poorly.

I've had to do this before. It can be a very messy job even in the best of circumstances.

Why not just set the building on fire and let insurance take care of it?

Those larger machines have pretty damn large tanks of toner. A Canon GPR-37 cartridge (which we use at work for one model copier) could certainly do that with ease.

That's about as long as from my elbow to the ends of my fingers.
