That's pretty clever. I remember as a kid, my dad and I would occasionally take the tubes out of the TV and go to the neighborhood drug store and use their tube tester to find faulty ones and replace them. I had a shoebox full of old tubes that I used to play with as rocket ships. Yeah, I was a weird kid...still am I guess.

You had a terrific imagination. I grew up in the solid state era, but I would have done the same thing in your situation.

i grew up in the tube era. and i learned that just because the tube pin pattern fit the socket, it wasn't a good idea to find one that fits, plug it in and turn it on!! :eek:
(then i learned that's what schematics are for)

Also old enough to remember when TVs & radios came with schematics.
