The original cartoons from Addams had a perverse dark charm to them. The TV show turned them into a typical sitcom family, complete with the laugh track.

I first found the original cartoons in a compilation book at the library when I was about ten years old. It was like seeing a favorite book made into a movie, only they changed everything about it.
