that^^ is not too far off what a very popular rock band's guitarist was doing back in the 80's/90's.
he had an empty full marshall stack on stage, even the head was just an empty cabinet with a light in it (on/off light)
in the bottom cabinet he had a 30 watt Gorilla and a mic. he had great tone and few people, other than some of us musicians that knew that band, knew that's what he was doing.
