Ladder Advice....

I have an aluminum step ladder and a really large step ladder that is the height of my roof overhang. The regular size one is the one I use 90% of the time. Super lightweight.

I used to lead 5.10 trad. Some of the skills are transferable, but not all.

Going to repeat my experience that if you’re using it a lot, a heavy ladder sucks. Not so often, not a big deal.

yeah, 5.10 was about all that I was comfortable leading. 5.9 could get you up most of the Eastern Sierras climbing routes. But setting up protection is a good skill and something I've used on my roof multiple times (I have a steep roof). Remember most climbing accidents occur when people feel comfortable and don't think they need protection.

I rock climb, so that looks pretty stable assuming the bottom is somehow secured and not just depending on friction.

He's putting a lot of trust in the workmanship of whomever built that bannister. Like literally putting his life in that person's hands.

Something you "get" to do in the fire academy, the church raise.
Straight up, over the top, and down the back side, trusting your team at the base and on the lines.
