La Cabronita Thinline build

Well, aside from cramming as much shop time as usual over the weekend, I decided to build something that I've been thinking about for the last couple of months.

I decided to make this a thinline, but that may change as the project progresses. Another cool thing is that this is going to be built using sycamore.

Straightening up the blank for gluing.

Cut in two and ready for glue. This is also a little practice for a koa blank that I need to glue.

Clamped. (there's more than 1 clamp). This will be the back. I haven't decided if it will be painted or stained.

While that was setting up, I started a neck for the project. Since it was a nice day, I did as much outside as possible.

That's it for now. Stay tuned :thu:

That is so freakin awesome. I was just pricing parts on Warmoth's site for one of those on Friday.

I should have started the thread with this pic. The body came from a sycamore tree on the way to work.

Yes, the neck is going to be similar, with that straight taper that blends into the headstock. It's not exactly the same though. I'm experimenting a little. I'm also thinking about remaking the neck out of quartersawn sycamore instead of the quartersawn maple.

The more I play mine the more I'm digging the neck. I loved it when I first got it but now that I'm used to it I like the size and shape better than my Suhr Classic.
