Just in case Starbucks isn't making you fat enough yet....

I always figured that I didn't like Starbucks coffee because I had an uneducated coffee palate or some shit like that. My favorite coffee is from Dunkin Donuts of all places.

I believe you speak for a lot of folks when you say that.

I also tried a Peets here because Flamencology suggested it and it was even stronger. I'm not man enough for the flavor of burnt tires I guess.

We don't have Dunkin Donuts around here but I get the coffee at Target every once in a while and make it at home. According to my mother in law I make it too strong but the coffee at their house is like brown water.

Peets and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf are generally better than Dunkin'. just don't get the dark roast.

Dunkin's off the shelf coffee is actually Folgers. they make and distribute it to Dunkin's specification. i just buy the regular Folgers roasts. either the Classic or the French Roast. for cheap coffee at home from a drip maker, it's pretty good.

Thats funny because Folgers is the other brand that we buy....

I like Dunkin Donuts coffee too. I dont go "out" for coffee much but if I do, it is either Dunkin Donuts or one of the local Cuban places for a cafe con leche or a shot of Cuban coffee. I like strong coffee including Cuban coffee but I see burnt and strong as two entirely different things. I am sure my coffee palatte lacks sophistication but I know what I like and what I dont.

And I thought what is spoken in Starbuck's was a foreign language. I dont speak Starbucks.

At least there's one good thing about living in the middle of nowhere in Scandinavia....decent coffee can still be had in sane cup sizes (and without all that weird crap in it). :cheese:

you can order black coffee at Starbucks. you just wouldn't want to because it tastes like shit.

Yeah. Starbucks does sell "coffee" coffee. The only wacky thing I ever get at Starbucks is their ridiculous green tea latte thing because it reminds me of the ridiculous matcha drinks that you can get all over in Japan. It's like drinking Hello Kitty.

Good coffee in normal sized cups can definitely be had here and even for a decent price. Just not at Starbucks.

Those places are few and far between iirc, although possible. I remember it as being quite a task finding something smaller than a pint or so on my last US trip. I only travelled through a very small part of the country though, to be fair. :embarrassed:
The looks I got for wanting a proper black coffee with nothing funky in it was hilarious though.

i get those looks all the time. i usually say something like, "gee, sorry for actually liking coffee. hope you like your lightly coffee flavored milkshake."

That is surprising. I dont know I've been anywhere that didnt have a "small" cup (except maybe the movie theater) or had trouble getting a black coffee. Of course in Starbucks, I'm not sure how to order one.

Did you visit the land of the giants or something?

I don't mind starbucks coffee or their prices. I always just get a bold tall. It's only like a buck something.

Yeah, if you get the fancy shit you're going to pay out the ass. Don't get the fancy shit.

We have a couple of Starbuck's, but I've never tried it. Not going to spend 10 minutes trying to decode the options, and then pay an outrageous price when all I want is a cup of coffee. Doesn't seem like they're ever very busy, guess they must be a lot more popular in bigger cities.

this is what makes drinking black coffee so glorious. because when you are as unfortunate as to end up at Starbucks, you can say "small black" and they give you dirty looks.

Because I'm a helper, I'll help you guys out. If you are ever in a situation where you just want a quick cup of coffee and the only thing nearby is a Starbucks here's what you do.

Walk up to the counter. Tell the guy/girl at the register "I'd like a (Tall = medium, Grande = Large) Bold coffee, black." Or you could go with Breakfast Blend, it's more mild I believe, if you don't like the bitter taste of their coffee. I actually like it though. Give them $2 and get some change back. That wasn't very hard, it wasn't very expensive, and all you have to remember is Tall or Grande.

 No harder than ordering at Subway.

I like that idea, might have to give it a try! I would guess the ones here are probably busy when all the tourists roll in, but I usually do my best to stay out of town when it gets really busy.
