Johnny Hiland left PRS because they wouldn't pay him enough?

Overall that press release was a pretty positive, "hey things don't work out sometimes" big hugs all around/thanks for the memories. Except this part:

What's he getting at here?

He probably found out that he was making far less than lots of other endorsees, and tried to get more to bring his pay to that level...only to be told he wasn't famous enough. Sounds like PRS told him something like "we 20 grand like you, but we don't 50 grand like you. We 50 grand like artist XXX, who has a much bigger marketing placement than you" (just making up money numbers, I would have no clue what these deals actually are). Hiland's agent said something like "we get 50 or look elsewhere", and PRS said they couldn't do it.

Things must have been pretty bitter on the "My name is on that signature guitar" front... because ALL TRACES of the guitar, even in discontinued models, disappeared off the website.

Tha tis the impression I got from reading the story above. Specifically this statment:

"Sometimes you are faced with raw facts about people you work with, that while you try to ignore, they become very self evident. Such was the case here."

Seems like he was having a personal issue with Mr. Smith.

Musicians gotta eat.

That's why you get a real job?

Not all us are born with the innate gift of electrical know-how.

 I hope you know I am razzing you, and am actually envious... Honestly, I never had the guts to try and do anything with my life that actually interested me, such as music... I dropped out of college, got offered a job as an electrician's apprentice, and took the job... Now I'm old, and all I have going for me is a couple of contractors licenses, which are just tickets to be a one man blue collar show til I die...

So, all power to you, seriously. I don't really "like" my job. I just do it... If I could make even 12 bucks an hour doing something I enjoy, at this point, I would...
