Selling England should have come after Lamb as it sounds like a lot of their Collins era stuff. I Know What I Like was probably the first sappy Genesis song before Gabriel left and they went to shit.
I'm firmly of the opinion that Collins should have kept his mouth shut and stayed behind the drum kit. I also lament the loss of Steve Hackett from the band.
 
Their albums are mediocre and their performances are better. All the songs mostly sound the same, are too long, and take forever to develop.

Alan White took over drums for Yes after Bruford.

Much more of a powerhouse drummer. Gave Yes a different energy and surge.

I can't imagine Bruford giving Gates of Delirium the same immensity.
 
I dig early Genesis, but I have a hard time seeing them as any kind of a pinnacle, given that their lead singer’s first 5 or so solo albums were all better than anything they ever did as a collective.
