I'm considering raffling off a guitar for our "open house" in September.

I've considered gettin' that and this

and swappin' necks.

Is that the one with the chrome PG (hard to tell if it's white or chrome in the pic)? if so, I have the "Black and Chrome Fat Strat" brother of that guitar and it's pretty great. I mean, for the ludicrously low price I paid for it, it's quite a player and sounds fairly good too.

The reviews on both have been pretty high across the board.

EDIT: so yeah, I just clicked the link (instead of the pic) and I see it is in fact the Black and Chrome model. I've been eyeballin' that thing for quite some time now as well.

I bought a blackout tele last year when MF was doin' those Friday deals.
It's been sittin' in its case since then because maple boards creep me out so bad.

Finally bought a Musikraft neck for it last night,

so, the maple one will be up for sale soon. I'm thinkin' 'bout paintin' the headstock black on the Musikraft.

One of my original thoughts was something like this. I might take the top 3 suggestions and have a poll on Monday. Otherwise I'm going to order a guitar that I want and can't have :embarrassed:

I've nearly walked out of GC with that guitar about a hundred different times now. I don't know why, but I really really love everything about it. If mark makes that the raffle item, I'll refer everyone I know

FWIW I love mine, and it has eventually become my #1 guitar.
I've replaced the neck on mine though, with a Warmoth. Other than that it's still stock - and kicks fucking arse.

Since there seem to be a lot of suggestions (my personal preference would be to have a bass), perhaps you could offer a few low-end options?

Might be a little waiting time, if you didn't have them in stock, but at least the winner would have a picture to look at. drool0

How do we go about referring a friend, btw?

Have them sign in and post, I guess. There should also be a "referrer" form when they register IIRC.

Having a "menu" of possible prizes might not be a bad idea actually.

I disagree...you're being very generous by doing a raffle...just raffle off what you want...I for one am hoping for the free lessons...I TRULY do not need another guitar...

We'll see what I work out..this isn't a fully formed idea yet....

Is that a rosewood neck? It doesn't look good. It's a very light color with strong differences in grain.
That's the color differentials you see. Look at the Fender pictures, where it almost looks black.
It's the difference in grain that's not good. If it was all light, or all dark, it would resonate evenly.
I wouldn't have guessed rosewood first, seeing it here.
Someone, if entering the loud tone-zone, will think there's a few sweet spots.

Now that I'm going door-to-door campaigning as a mayoral candidate,
I carry my acoustic to try and register Mark Wein members.

That would be awesome! I don't know that I'll be able to buy them either, TBH, but it's probably more likely than me being able to refer someone
