I typically run my normal strat with tone at 6. The silver gives me that tone at about 7.5-8 so I'm very, very happy with it. At ten it gives me all the sparkle I could want without any huge annoying peaks. I just need some drive for the bridge, where I believe the blue would do swell. I have it in the middle position with my blue/red/silver set.

I'm looking at the cheapest solution right now*, selling one off to partially finance the replacement is where I'm at. Getting a whole set of golds as an experiment isn't cutting it.

* Wife has gotten to the (hopefully temporary) bean counting phase on guitar mods and acquisition.

IIRC, red is for bridge, silver for middle and blue for neck. Obviously anything goes, but I think that’s how Lace orders them in their sets. At least the old Strat Plus had them that way.
 
Let’s see… not going to count the 594… bought it in Dec of 22… so first guitar of 2023 was the Piezo hollowbody

Then I finally got my hands on a Marconi EGO

…. And immediately had to check my credit card balance when a powder blue 305 with Birds became available… or maybe it was the other way around.

Either way, I’m still working on mods on both to become part of the permanent rotation.

And lastly, while recovering from my hand surgery I stumbled into a great deal on a DGT se which (now that I’ve played it a bit) is worth every penny at list price!

So 2024 will probably have me (finally) selling some gear, but Im pretty excited about all of the guitars I have right now. I’d have to do a full count, but it’s def in the teens. :embarrassed:

I wanted the blue closer to the bridge and and a single coil in the neck. Just my choice.

The tonex is really cool. A friend of mine is doing a bunch of high end amp captures. I’ll grab his username so you can try some of them. He has a crazy amp collection, but has been borrowing amps from guys on the gear page.

I forget the color scheme (maybe purple or green?) but they do one that approximates a Texas special. And there’s always the dually (humbucker) option. Lace makes excellent pickups
 
This year I mostly sold stuff I didn't use anymore, mainly some non-collectible Boss pedals. No new guitars or amps, but I did upgrade my LP with a set of TV Jones Classics and just recently a Les Trem.

I'm pretty sure I'll keep it the way it is now as it perfectly suits my needs.

Oh damn! That is lovely.
 
I think this is the only guitar product I bought this year. It’s a lovely Bourgeois dread with no fingerboard inlays. I started getting hardcore into bluegrass-style solo flatpicking, and I think it’ll do that job and then some. It was a gift to myself for completing radiation. Maybe I’ll have to do the same if and when chemo ends.

I also bought a couple of quality tin whistles, thinking I’d learn a new instrument. I haven’t made much progress, for better or worse, because the dogs fucking hate it.

2004 Strat was the most recent. And I paid $50 for it at a garage sale!

I might get another guitar or two before the year is out of I keep hanging out in this thread--there are some absolute stunners. @baimun excluded, of course.

What did you buy? I have 7 tin whistles in four different keys. I used to play fairly often and performed live a few times. I am pretty rusty now.
