I don't disagree. I would be happy to own any of your guitars except that Ibanez. I'm not saying there anything g wrong with it. It just doesn't fit in with the rest.

it absolutely fits in with the rest. in fact, the entire collection is based around it. though i am interested to hear your reasoning about why it is the odd duck of the group.

oh. Dunlop makes an 11-50 set. i dig them.

I just realized that I barely play my Les Pauls anymore. Some of that is that I'm just not into the heavier string gauges right now.

Yeah, I use to put 11's on my LP, but never played it because it was too much work. It's pretty much ten's all the way around on my electrics. Though sometimes I'll put 9's on a tele for extra bendability.

I liked the sound for some things but then the guitars don't work for my cover band gig. One of them has 12 gauge flats on it, too.

wasn't that the point though? that you have certain instruments for certain contexts, and you didn't want to use them in the cover band?

given all the work you've done revamping your technique over the past year, i'd interested in hearing how you now apply that to an instrument like the Artcore, with the same gauge strings, and then once you're comfortable on it, upping the gauge.

Yeah...things are pretty different for me and I'd really like to experiment a bit with my gear. Right now I play my Suhr strat 99% of the time on gigs and the bloack warmoth stays in the case. I'm hoping to have some different playing situations in the coming months but I don't think any of them will really benefit from the heavier string sounds.

who knows? in the meantime, it'd be interesting to hear how filtering other instruments in slowly changes things. it's the reason i have 5 guitars in cases right now. i need to focus on technique and there are too many distractions.

I feel like I'm going to be really disappointed in the Artcore once I get it set back up again. I just don't have the funds to upgrade that particular instrument unless I do some pickups. Or maybe the Epihpone 339 that my student brought in.

it's a budget instrument. sometimes you just have to appreciate it for what it is.

We'll see. I'm hoping it surprises me. I do think the electronics are the weakest part but I don't feel brave enough to replace the pickups in semi hollow guitar myself yet.
