I think I lost my mind and bought an SG

Do you think you have lost your mind? You don't actually know if you bought an SG?


 
And this morning I see the most wonderful words in the world....On Fed Ex vehicle for delivery.

Looks like it is scheduled to be here between 2:30 and 6, and I have to be here to sign for it.
 
Here is a crappy cell phone pic on my kitchen table. 57 classics sound fantastic as jazz pickups. Every new guitar kind of leads you to where it sounds cool when testing, and this led me to a clean jazz sound with all them fancy chords...and AC/DC.

I frequent a guitar forum where everyone there HATES SGs and I sort of sympathize but this guitar I could see owning, it's light, doesn't have any objectionable batwing pickguard (I never liked them) and just seems like a nice guitar. Sweet!

Nice! I love my SG. I still don't think you can beat a good LP but SGs are up there in my favourite guitar types :) mines so picky with bridge pickups though, still haven't settled on my favourite. Currently on some Bareknuckle humbucker size p90s which sound great.

Fantastic. I originally thought the tailpiece was used as a trapeze but no vibrato arm. I see in your picture that it has a stoptail in between the bridge and the tailpiece. Can the tailpiece be optionally used?

It looks like a lyre vibrato where someone removed the string holding 'claw' at the front of the device. This means there is no way to attach strings to that part of the guitar. It appears to have a metal pin holding the piece lacking the 'claw', so one could, in theory, put a new piece with string holders in there.
 
I kinda like the cherry finish with the chrome hardware. Gold in my mind wouldn't work so well visually but chrome goes nice. It's like a red corvette.
