My roommate is a pretty pickey eater, he refuses to eat mushrooms, nuts, anything from the sea, etc. But the one that gets me is that he is so suspect of things that he does like that are prepared in a way that differs even a bit from the way his mom made them. He's 28 years old and it's like it never occurred to him that there is more than one way to cook/serve some things. I made meatloaf a while back and he was shocked and horrified to see I was putting pork and sausage into it, apparently his mom basically made a giant hamburger patty in a dish and called it meatloaf.![]()
it's only recently that i've had meatloaf with pork in it. we never kept kosher in my house, but my mom was never a pork eater. wife and i don't keep kosher either, but the same basic rule applies. no pork in the house. we make meatloaf either with beef, turkey, or as a mixture. i'd like to try some lamb in it too.
