I swore to myself that I wouldn't post any HC stuff here but....

You just really have to wonder how the people in charge of whatever HC has become were ever able to reach a point where they were allowed to make any decisions about much of anything.

Clueless fucktards completely destroying what was once a great community.

I have absolutely no understanding of how they decided that running a once huge online community into the ground repeatedly would be a good idea.

It's all part of their golden parachute bankruptcy plan.

I assume the 'twist it into an educational thing for kids' is a response to their dismal participation numbers. If they didn't lose 80% of the traffic after the HC3.0 'upgrade', it would be business as usual over there. This is a last ditch attempt at 'rebranding' the steaming pile they have to report about to senior management. I bet it was even pitched as a 'paradigm shift towards an educational social media experience'.

I guess. If they were serious about the educational thing it would be easier to start something like that from scratch rather than have more than a decades worth of forum wars a bikini threads available for the perusal of any 8th grader in the school library.

I'm not 100% sure it's a horrible idea. I mean HC doesn't have anything to lose so maybe going that route would be a good thing.

Adding 13 year olds won't bring in any ad dollars, they don't make any money.

I looked at the HC 'guitars' page and between the six or seven odd forums there they had 14 people online. 14. I didn't realize how bad it had become. They are not losing revenue because of off color language, they are losing revenue because they don't know what they are doing.

Yes, kids are just clamoring for a condescending lecture on rockers of the 70's that concludes with the phrase "learn and return."

They've continued to do one thing after the other while ignoring all of the mods telling them it's a terrible idea. They split my forum, the Lesson Loft, into about 10 different forums. Even back in the heyday of HC we had really light traffic, and now that it's dead, they're splitting it up even further. Supposedly this new focus on education will "make people start posting in the new forums." rolleyes1

They should have put it with the rest if the guitar forums. Now nobody knows where the lesson loft is. And splitting it is an awful idea.
