I suppose it's sort of a new guitar. Ish.

Dexter Inferno

Serious error
I've had the neck and pickups for years. Warmoth neck, Kinman noiseless single coils. Sounds great (even have the treble bleed thing installed, which I love).
Tuning stability has been awful though. The Squier body I had them on had some funky measurements that don't work with a lot of things.

So ordered myself a Fender Standard. That came in today. Moved over the loaded pickguard and neck and installed a Vega-Trem VT1 (holy shit, those things are good).
Also have Schaller locking tuners and straplocks on it.

I now have the best Strat I've ever played. Plays great, sounds great - and the new trem kicks ass. And it's rather...blue.

Lovely thing is I can use the parts I have lying around now to put together a second one. Just need to find a bridge/trem that actually fits it. Win :)

Tried it on a full rehearsal tonight. Very very happy camper!

The Vega-Trem is incredible. Close to Floyd stablility tuning wise, but without any of the hassle.
A bit finicky to set up, but loads of good videos about on that.

If you have a Fender-style guitar that needs a better trem it really is a no-brainer (doesn't fit Squiers with two point trems without re-routing though, FYI).

I now finally have a Strat I'm 100% happy with.

Read back, the new Std...cool. I remember when there were a few Strats called standards. Love the color, always partial to blue.

Yeah - WTF does "standard" even mean anymore??? First it was American Standard, then it was MIM Standard, now it's some Standard made in a place most Americans couldn't find on a map if their life depended on it!

Also, that pearloid or whatever they call it looks great on that LPB. I've had three LPB Fenders and currently have a Reverend in their version of that color.

Yeah, the new ones are made in Indonesia.
The model names can be really confusing if you're not paying attention to that sort of stuff.
Seems well made fwiw. Going to do a full job on the neck that came with it, and eventually use that for another partscaster. Fretboard was really dry on it, which isn't unusual on imports, and it probably needs a fret job but fortunately I've become quite good at that thing.

Let me know if you want to sell/swap that vega trem. I think it looks glorious. I probably have a Gotoh 510 on my bench.
