I like Les Pauls...

I still love Les Pauls and have had a bunch of them over the years. I have had custom shop ones and some real special ones that were worked over with hot pots and pick-ups, but I honestly have to say I have a goldtop epi now that plays better than any real Les Paul I have ever owned. I never used to like playing anything by Fender and now find that as I am older (44) that my speed isn't what it used to be when I was 15 so I find the Tele to really make it nicer for me to play. I have 3 Strats and even an old 80's Charvel that I enjoy now too. Heck, I hate to say it, but I like them all for different occasions and songs.

one of the best playing lp's i ever played was a '56 epi goldtop reissue....

my '73 custom is even better :thu:

So do I.

Thanks...the story on the washburn is interesting, because at the time I HAD the money to buy a genuine Gibson, but couldn't find one I liked...too heavy, too much neck, etc...around the same time I got a Musicians Friend Catalog in the mail (pre-internet days) and saw the Washburn...ordered it, and haven't looked back since...

if by too much neck you mean a 50's profile, try playing one with a 60's profile neck (much thinner)...

both of mine are '60s profile slim tapers...my sheraton2 has the '59 profile, and it is playable for me but it's work...
