How did all of you meet Mark - our fearless leader?

HC for me too. I was looking for backing trax and ran into Mark. He sent a E mail out and I ended up here. I am being held captivated.

I first started seeing him in the lessons section at HC. I wasnt a prominant contributor over there so I dont think we really ever interacted. I cant honestly remember how I ended up finding this place though. I must have found it through HC but not sure. I pretty much quit going over there before it got bad. Either way, I found this forum and dont think I've been back to HC more than once or twice since. Lots of credit to Mark for doing it right as well as the initial crowd that came over. Great group of people.

Not everyone can pull off the orange shorts look. Mark does it with class. :embarrassed:

Actually, it was in the 'OMG My Ultimate New Guitar Day Is Today' thread at HCEG.

HC for me as well.

First met him person when I ended up in Anaheim while Mrs. P was attending a conference for work. We drove the couple of miles over to Premier and met him. Then went over there for a jam. That's when I met Modern Saint and Tyler and one of the other forum guys whose name I have forgotten. Then saw an All Star Trio gig at the Blue Beet.

And then at Pragestock last year.

From Robert Renman's TheFret.net forum.

I can't remember. did you start hanging out over here regularly first, or did I? Mark was a presence over at Robert's for quite a while I know. I think I joined much earlier than I really started hanging out here.

Saw him posting in HC and started a conversation about his online lessons. Best decision I made...even though it was rough re-learning some basics, getting rid of bad habits and actually practice better. Once I'm done with courses, I'm going to start back up. Heck of a nice guy. Hope I someday get a chance to make it out to California to meet everyone in person.

I have never had the pleasure of meeting Mark in person, but I am glad to have found my way to this forum. I don't know whether to classify myself as a guitarist who also plays the drums, or a drummer who also plays guitar. I will say that I played guitar first, because someone told me that if I was going to be working with youth, I would need to play. I got an acoustic guitar, and learned just enough open position chords to play what I needed. Eventually, I got the guitar bug, and I began exploring more chords and adding electric guitars and amps. I enjoyed exploring sounds, and expanding the number of songs I could play, but in time, it just wasn't enough. I read books on music theory, and a few how to books, including the "for Idiots" book. I tried a teacher, but that didn't work out well, so I eventually started looking for online instruction, and I stumbled upon this forum.

I have enjoyed going through some the lessons that Mark has posted, and eventually, I would like to take some online lessons from Mark to help me put things together (yeah, I like to really understand what I am doing.

All the best to you Mark!

Got burned out at HC and this place was the hot, new upstart on the forum circuit. Stopped in for a drink and a lap dance, and never looked back.

Did you get the lap dance from Mark?

HCEG I think actually in the sticky jams but not really sure. I came here initially when HC1.0--> 2.0 which was an unmitigated disaster...and then it got worse :P
