Hot or Not - Jacquet TC703 JB

I like the guitar.

Like the configuration, like the idea behind it.

Like the color, even.

I could even get over the reverse headstock......

I would have to try it out to see if I bonded with it for that price.

But I would say that about any guitar in that price range.

Cool of you to come on here, Bruno.

there's also another perception type difference here. you're an actual professional. most forumites are part time or hobbyist musicians. you've said yourself that what people own and what they "should own" given their skill level or participation level is way off from what they usually go for. maybe being dismissive is what they should be doing because their situation doesn't warrant them to deserve a $3000 instrument.

As a professional in my field, I am most concerned with having equipment & tools that are basically functional and reliable...the appropriate tools for the job at hand. Is it nice to have top flight equipment? Sure...but I don't need it most of the time because I can adapt (part of what being a pro/craftsman/guru really is IMO). W/R/T instruments and equipment, I've seen guys record albums then tour the US, Canada and Europe with off the local shop wall Fender and Gibson production gear, including MIM and LP Stuidos that many guitar forum corksniffers would dismiss; it's all subjective. I guess in the end it is much easier to justify spending more cash on things when you use it for revenue but really doesn't have much to do with need or deserve in many cases when you go beyond good enough.

Hi everybody,
I just register, and I am the small builder Mark is talking about: Bruno Jacquet. I wanted to give an answer on this early comments "Is it hot or not!"
It seems that reverse peg head specially attracted the attention. I like that, it is the reason it is like it is (beside the fact that was a specific order). Some people like it, some don't. For everyone who want something unusual, recognizable it does the trick.
Now about the price. Well I am a small builder, not making thousand's of guitars a year, and I pay attention to everything, especially the quality of my work. This takes time and, this alone do have a value that I transfer to the final price, Make sense, No? Of course you can buy a Tele for a couple of hundred bucks but it is not the same move than buying my guitars, not the same reasons, neither the same intentions or feelings, at the end it is up to you.
The color is also up to you, of course. We are building Custom Guitars so everything is possible.
I want to take the opportunity to direct you to the model I designed the TC100 Anniversary: http://www.jacquetguitars.com/custom-guitar-builder-tc100-anniversary.shtml. This guitar is getting a lot of attention right now. If you want to listen I put a video at the end of this post. Get back to me to let me know what you think. If you like it, says so on YouTube, that's always help, thank you.
Happy Holiday to all of you

Hi Bruno...I don't think you have to justify the price; handwork, craftsmanship and attention to detail come at a premium. (plus many of us are fairly cheap)

I'm curious as a custom builder who has Tele in a market that these days seems to be bursting at the seams with guys doing riffs on the Telecasters, Strats and LPs, is it driven by what you want to build or just because guitarists seem adverse to new/unfamiliar body styles and it sells?

Hi Bruno. Thanks for your comments. i am sure your guitars are very nice, and I do not question necessarily your workmanship or professionalism. I have not had any experience either way. However, per econ 101, what a guitar is "worth" is they price a ready and willing buyer and ready and willing seller agree upon. Many may be willing to pay over 3K for a solid body telecaster. Due to my priorities at this point in life and uses for musical instruments, I am respectfully not so willing. Beyond that, this particular guitar is not set up with what I would want in a more expensive tele. No offense intended though.

Also, please do not take these "Hot or Not" threads too seriously. It is mostly just a bunch of us guys giving our kneejerk, subjective reactions as to whether we would really want whatever guitar is being presented that day.

I am not taking it too seriously, it was an opportunity for me to tell a bit who I am and how I think. Anyway it is good to see the different reactions from different horizons. I am Europe originated and over there criticizing is almost a sport, so you use to it.
I appreciate the time everybody took to give a response on that topic.
Merry Christmas to everyone

Hey sunvalleylaw you just give me an idea. During the summer I work as a pilot for an aerial photo company and they send me all over US so I would have an opportunity to let everyone who send me their email with the town where they live, try some of my guitars, when I am around.
Send me an email at sales@jacquetguitars.com with a ref to this post like "I'd like to try your guitars" as title.
