I would have NEVER picked up the Los Straitjackets blingy silver version, but they also had a seemingly rare and non-gaudy natural mahogany version. I thought "eh, why not?", and plugged in...

This thing sounded like pure single-coil heaven, and the combination of pickup options is more good than meh. Very articulate, too.
Of course, I was playing through a Greer Apache, which ROCKED:

...but, the $2K P90 Telecaster I played through it as well didn't sound as good.
The guitar, whick is MIK, was solid - the frets and neck were perfect, and the bridge is not the standard JM buzz machine - more like a Mastery, I guess, but I'm no expert.

Wow, would. DiPintos are usually too over the top even for me, but that is bosstastic.

recently got another LSJ, swapped in a tru-arc serpentune, and magically my sons got an LSJ and a 60s roger's sparkle snare! It was a good Xmas.

I've owned one for that past 13 years. They are a cool take on the Jazzmaster. My first electric guitar was a MIJ "Prestige" (probably an Ibanez Corp product) that had 4 single coil p'ups with individual slider switches, so due to biological imprinting, I was programmed to replace that guitar in my late 40s.
The p'ups are a bit hotter than traditional Fender p'ups, but it just gives it a bit more umph.
It's definitely the most flamboyant looking ax in my collection, but you need one guitar that says you're comfortable with that. ;^)

I know it looks like a lot of pickups but its just a two humbucker guitar w its coils spread out. Not much diff than a PRS w a 5 position switch and coil & phase toggle.
