I learned it from the Luthier's Corner in MLP... Instead of sanding the edge, the metal shaft is just rubbed back and forth, smashing down the wood, and giving it a nice smooth edge that feels like a used guitar...

By the way, this method doesn't work well on ebony, and you have to actually sand the edges...

Very cool. I really liked the look of that guitar when it turned up as a SDOTD, and the Bigsby makes it that much better.
