Question: HEAT CHECK - Would I like to post a thread to gauge the interest in possibly maybe having a "Smurfstock" get-together in Austin in May (or September)?

I would show. Just need a nearby hotel. Maybe I'll buy a guitar to play while I'm there. Just for kicks.

My latest guitars couldn’t handle the heat.

I’d be interested, but probably couldn’t make TX as my schedule is dumb and I already travel too much. If @baimun keeps us posted on Indiana, I can probably take the time to drive Hump over there so we can throw eggs at you.

There is a Comfort Suites and a Holiday Inn Express both 2 miles from our gear shop... both are looking to be around $75 a night that weekend (It's one of the first two weekends of April, pretty sure it starts the Saturday before Easter.) I have to check with my wife when she's going to be in Florida with her Aunt.

Also... for those Chicagoans who can't or don't drive... the South Shore Train leaves from Millennium Station (the Bean) and is something like $11 to the South Bend airport. I may have to get my Son In Law involved if he's going to be Suburban Transport. :helper:

I'd definitely hit Baimunstock since it is within fairly easy driving distance. Smurfstock might be doable depending on how cheap I can fly.

well I guess this is a midwest thing now... maybe Austin in the fall is better anyways.
 Surely we have enough southern Weiners to make it to Austin. They're both quite a hike for me. I enjoyed the one time I went to Barnstock at GuitarHeel's place. He doesn't post here anymore.

A lot of people don’t post here anymore. Seems like a trend. Who keeps chasing them off? Maybe, some of you should start bathing, using deodorant, and working on your manners.

Don’t look at me. I’m perfect.

If I were to grace you fellows with the extreme of honor of being in my presence it would for sure be Austin. However I’d probably be a no show for either location so my opinion doesn’t really matter.

There are some folks (myself included) who would want to attend both so I'd imagine spacing them out some would give people that opportunity - if they're both within the same few weeks that would be tough

I've never been to Austin, though I do hear it's the good part of Texas. September is terrible for me usually because of the start of the semester and it's not anything close to a drive for me.

No no no... The most important thing is for people to have geographic options!!! Greg (Prages) was always such a welcoming host and we've just kinda let these go by the wayside.

The MWGL Community as a whole is the most important part!!... Some only have the time/resources/opportunity for a local one, or one that aligns with another trip. My summers are usually crazy... but if you plan one that doesn't fall on one of my family member's birthdays, or on a Notre Dame home game, I will do my best to see if I can travel to yours. :baimun:

Ideally... we do a Midwest one this spring... You do one in the Fall... maybe a California one gets planned around NAMM time next year.... East coast next Summer.... and we make this a thriving musical community... not just old farts sharing funny memes. :lmbo:

Like I said on the other one, if you can physically get out and do this, do it. Don't sit back and say boy, I wish I had.
