If I never have to hear 'Rock the Casbah' ever again in my life I'll be a happy man.
The Pistols never really did it for me. I remember my brother got both records (Never mind and Combat Rock) through the RCA music club or something , I must've been 13 and at the time other than SISOSIG on Combat rock it just didn't float my boat whereas the Bullocks did. Since then I much prefer the Clash just more diversity and interesting and Mick Jones is kinda a genius....he was incorporating samples and early hip hop and all that. Post beatles break up I dig Pil a lot and much prefer them to SP but of course the SP have that one album forever sealed in time (much like New Order to Joy Division) Mick Jones made some great stuff with Big Audio Dynamite though and I remember buying BAD2 shortly after it came out and it was completely off the radar from my at the time REM/Grunge/Rush diet....,.They're to the Pistols as the Stones are to the Beatles for me. I can dig some of it (really dig it in a few cases) but overrall they just don't it for me like their counterpart.
That's fair enough but how can you not like Train in Vain...gol' damn !If I never have to hear 'Rock the Casbah' ever again in my life I'll be a happy man.
I like sandanista in fact it's what clicked the clash with meI'm a fan. I wasn't at first; I had a roomate in college that pushed them too aggressively, as he did with lots of stuff. But eventually I came around in spite of that.
The first album is brilliant, just a classic chunk of rock and roll.
GEER I've hardly ever listened to. I still have the original vinyl on the shelf so one day I'll get back to it.
London Calling is also brilliant. Great songs, sense of urgency throughout.
I like Sandanista a lot as well. You could criticize it for being a huge, sprawling mess with lots of drug-addled filler, and many do. But there are lots of gems also. And even the extended weirdness is fun in a way, if the mood is right.
Post-Sandanista is hit-and-miss. There are some good tracks, "Straight to Hell" comes to mind. And then there are a couple tracks I won't mention that got played to death.
Acadiafall don’t like it.
I was expecting someone to chime in with the profane chorus ending.Actually made me LOL at my desk.
