Y’all ready for a hot take?

Jimmy Buffet is a genius on the level of Bod Dylan. Fight me.

He created a persona and built an empire tapping into an ignored subculture of the US. This doesn’t make Parrot Heads suck any less.

Not sure who "Bod" is but whatever

I agree. I never thought the Parrot Head thing was an organic grassroots movement that Jimmy wanted you to believe just happened by osmosis. The successful "lifestyle" product he created probably has Gibson totally jello.

Is Margaritaville a MLCR?

I’ve never been to one but I ended up sitting next to one for a few hours at an airport terminal. I had been turning my liver into foie gras all week at an all inclusive resort and wanted nothing to do with it.

I made the mistake of having 11 too many shots in Mexico two days before leaving, so I didn’t take full advantsge of the duty free small batch tequillas there.

will definitely be bringing some hone with me next time.

I drove by one in Vegas a few years back.

If someone offers you a free weekend stay in Vegas in exchange for hearing a sales pitch on buying a time-share in a Vegas hotel, say no.

I'll make this distinction... I've spent more money in Margaritaville than in Kid Rock's bar. :baimun:

We did that once. We got to the hotel and they put us on the 14th floor. My wife doesn't ride elevators (which we made them aware of long before we finalized the booking) and they wouldn't let her use the stairs so we were given a new hotel on the first floor and never had to go to the time share crap meeting. All free.
Pretty sure we got the front desk person fired too but that's not the story here. They were really rude though so fuck em.

I can’t recall. I know I’ve been within striking distance of one because I objected to the idea of going. But I vaguely remember getting dragged inside for a drink or something with some sort of work-related bullshit. Honestly, all these sorts of places (somewhat themed, “fun” MLCRs) are all the same. So even if I haven’t been to Margaritaville, I’ve been to Margaritaville.

1993 or so Van Halen was playing the Merryweather Post Pavilion so my roommate and I headed out to get tickets as soon as they went on sale. Showed up at the ticket place and saw a huge line already there so we said "boy we came too late, everyone here to get VH tickets?". Some guy looks at us and says "No, this line is for Jimmy Buffett, that other line is Van Halen".

5 people ahead of us...

Pretty much. Mid-level chain restaurant. They’re a key part of 2manbland’s supervillain origin story.

2man is not a supervillain. He’s an Everyman fighting for good not evil, but he doesn’t have any powers. He’s got a big chip on his shoulder because he’s just a regular dude, tries to hide it and to make that his power, but it’s not. It just makes him kind of lame. He tries to act like he’s not which makes him a tragic hero dude that gets taken out in the first 5 minutes of the movie and everybody forgets about… like deboo without all the weed and burritos. You and @Flamencology are the villains of this story, he being more super than yourself.

No, but I have fired a stainless steel brad into my dick with a pneumatic floor nailer so I feel like I get the idea

It was a horrible experience after the free brunch with the salesman. That was pretty good.
He went to work after our meal. With every no from me, he would get more upset. He reminded me a few dozen times that if I wasn't paying attention to everything he said, I would have to pay for the weekend at the hotel. It lasted 6 hours, maybe 8. It seemed like 12. There were a few groups of people signing papers like they had just bought in on it. I think most of them were planted. Maybe I shouldn't have started out with "there's no fucking way I'm buying what your selling". I had to wait in a long line to sign out and explain to his supervisor why I wasn't purchasing a timeshare.

If you have to resort to patting yourself on the back for choosing restaurant X instead of restaurant y, then I submit that you should be trying accomplish more with your life
