Guitars you are/were completely blown away by....

When I saved up for my Anderson in 2004 and waited 4 months I made a point of trying to contain my expectations. I couldn't have prepared myself for how perfect it was (still is).

There's been a huge general improvement in guitars since then and boutique builders and assemblers seem to be everywhere making great ones, but this is still the best one I've played (for me), including some other Andersons.
When do we get to see a picture of the much ballyhooed Anderson’s?

My Reverend Billy Corgan Signature model. That pic is not mine but I have that same guitar. Fell in love at the first strum. beautiful clean and will shred as well.

My 94 Peavey Predator. I wound up replacing pots because one was bad when I got it and placing the tone control on the bridge pickup and so added Rose Heritage pickups too. The stock PUs would have been fine tho. Fantastic feeling neck and the sound is perfect for what I want.

Vintage strat sound, great neck, not worried to take it anywhere because people look at it and dismiss it because of the name.

So many!

* A '66 Mustang. Was told by person who shared practice space, "sure, go ahead and play it." Later found out it was stolen, and even though I wasn't involved, it made me feel very sad. Tried to get it back to it's original owner, who bizarrely said he didn't care. (Yes, we're talking about pro musicians here who did not have day jobs - at that point I basically said "avoid drama" and backed out, including backing out of sharing a nice space). Because of the weirdness, and the gorgeous sounds it got, I'll always remember that guitar.

* A '62 Strat that was going up for sale at Mr. Music in Brighton. The guys there were always nice to me, and when I came in, they said "Oh, wait 'til you see what we got!" They were right - it was amazing. Just sounded so beautiful through a DR, and sustain for days.

* My 2012 US Standard Strat. Bo-ring! It's even black with maple f/b and white p/g. It was on super-sale at Hello Music! (remember them?) and so I couldn't resist at $795. For two years it sulked and settled, immune to countless set up attempts and regardless of rig. It got set aside. This, of course, was the magic answer. Somehow, in year 3, it stabilized, and after one more set up it has been a tremendous guitar.

* 2014 American Elite HSS Strat. As noted above, bigger radii make better Fenders. This has a graduated FB and plays amazingly nicely. Also really like the S-1 switch with the humbucker.

* A couple of 60's era Mosrites owned by a "stah."

Moar later.

I always hope they will blow my mind, and I enjoy many of them. The one that blows my mind is my LTD EC-331FR.

Between my local friends and I, I own or get to play some really great guitars. I thought it looked cool, reviews were solid, and it was a nice even trade for a laney head that wasn’t doing it for me.

This is currently my no. 1. I hate active pickups. The ESP designed active pickups sound killer. Two volume and one tone. The licensed FR stays in tune even when I hold the guitar by the trem and shake it real hard.

Mind blown on a budget!
