Let’s Get Obtuse!
So let’s say someone told you that they would buy you a nice guitar because of some Dickensian magic benefactor whim. Basically you get to pick something up to and including the electric guitar equivalent of the kind of fancy sports car that rich dudes covet. But it’s got to be a single guitar and no parting things out to get a decent guitar and a workhorse amp or something.

What would you choose?

Can be ordered without (Small run, hand made) and I believe it comes off just by unscrewing the strap button.

It's also not stupid expensive for what it is. Somewhere around 4.5k.
 
I think about this literally every day, and I usually fluctuate between 'do I want a really nice Jazzmaster, or do I want a Gretsch'?

More often than not I come down on the Gretsch side, but then I get option paralysis choosing hollow or chambered, and Dynasonics vs. Filtertrons About 2/3 of the time I think "Hollow, Bigsby with the regulararm, singlecut, Dynas", but then I have to ponder 'do I want a 6120, or do I want a Falcon?'

Considering my Dickensian benefactor is waiting patiently, today I will make my decision.

I'll have a Gretsch Roundup, with the DeArmond Dynasonics.

True story: I had the opportunity to audition as a guitarist for the Smashing Pumpkins. I thought hard about my future touring the world, but in the end decided not to go ahead. The music biz grinds too many people down, and I'd rather play for fun.
 
Will it be my only guitar in this situation? That would change my answer.

If not, I'd go with something old-fashioned weird--one of the clear plastic ones, Zematis, the aluminum necked Travis Bean, high end hippie sandwich, that kind of deal.
 
I'd hit a store of some renown with a big acoustic section and pick the best of the bunch. My brain is thinking a D-18/28, a J-45, a higher end Larrivee, but I'd be open to whatever was there and sounded the best.

If it has to be an electric, I'd try to find the best Tele available.
 
I would custom order a custom Suhr Alt-T not that dissimilar to the one I currently own, but with extra sparkle goodness on the body and super flame on the neck... because I know it would play just as amazing as the one I own but would be absolutely stunning to stare at and would inspire me to never want to set it down.

At the moment, it would be a PRS Fiore or a DGT. I can't believe I'm saying a PRS but I think that's what it would be.

Yeah. I feel decidedly uncool, but those are the items that would solve problems in my day-to-day work life. I'm sure there are a ton more, but I'm playing my 9.6lb Les Paul a lot right now, and the "utility strat" thing is always a need for me. The Fiore isn't the most authentic-sounding strat-type guitar, but I have a student with one that works in a ton of different situations. In less than three years I've completely blown the frets out on my main strat.
 
I’m going with the obvious choice, a tiger striped 1959 Gibson Les Paul standard with a flamethrower PAF in the bridge and a burnished, buttery PAF in the neck.

Oh, yeah, I didn't think of acoustics. I'd get a Gibson Hummingbird or a similar classic acoustic.
