Hot or Not? Gretsch 5420T FSR White with Gold Hardware

I saw this and was captivated. I know there is some strong sentiment about gold hardware, but I'm interested in what folks think of the combination on this guitar.

I'd rather have chrome but gold is big on Gretch guitars. I'd play it. The new ones are pricey but seem to be good guitars.

I think the forum attitude on gold hardware is something of a gag now. There seem to be a lot of guitar makers who think gold hardware looks prestigious while a lot of the forum's players are more into function.

Gold hardware does seem to rub or flake off over time on a lot of guitars, too.

On the right guitar, though, it looks pretty good. IMHO, a white Gretsch definitely qualifies.

I like gold hardware on certain paint colors.

Just wish it didn't wear so quickly.

On this guitar, it's niicccee!!!

OMFG a white falcon I can afford! I’m just going to focus on how fast I’d rub the gold off the bridge and trem arm because otherwise I won’t be able to avoid buying it.

FWIW, GC is gonna have these for $699 next weekend.

I like it, but I have spent extensive time on something related over the last couple of days that may have squelched my Wolfgang gas, and possibly make me de-Gibson myself:

I think there's a lot of guitarists who want the gaudiest thing possible and guitar makers are happy to oblige. The flaking totally ruins it for me.

I have't tried one of those 54xx series yet but they look fantastic.

While they are better than the 51xx series, I still don't care that much for the BT Filtertrons they are using - while they're OK clean, any kind of dirt makes them muddy/ratty as hell, which is the worst kind of ceramic pickup IMO.

I don't know if they're better pickups or what, but the Super HiLo'trons in the 5622t sound much better to me - more chime, and don't mud up when playing dirty.

i had an electromatic and it was ok, but the more i played it, the less it sounded like a Gretsch so i sold it..
i guess i got spoiled by playing a friends 6120.

I like that it's a bit plainer than a Falcon. The gold metal flake trim on a Falcon just takes it too far over the top for me.
