Great albums from the past that you only recently discovered

There was probably never a time that I wasn’t aware of this album and didn’t appreciate it on some level, but I just picked it up again from Amoeba records and was blown away how freakin good it is.

When I clicked on this thread, I decided to put some music on. Guess what album I chose? That's right, John Barleycorn. Then I scroll down and see this. MIND BLOWN.

Is there another DLR album with John 5 that wasn't released? Ok, yeah, I found it. https://ultimateclassicrock.com/david-lee-roth-john-5-album-release/ So G-Wiz. The two also recorded an album together in 2014, that has yet to be released. So there's a more mature John 5 DLR album on the launch pad.

Anyway, while I was listening to this and searching for information I found this on who recorded what. John 5 is B'urbon Bob. How cool is that?
  • David Lee Roth - Harmonica (track 2), Vocals, Cover Art Concept
  • John 5 - Guitar (tracks 1 - 3, 5, 8, 9, 13)
  • Terry Kilgore - Guitar (tracks 4, 7, 11, 12, 14), Bass (tracks 4, 7, 12), Synthesizer (track 14)
  • Mike Hartman - Guitar (tracks 6, 10)
  • B'urbon Bob - Bass (John 5 on tracks 1 - 3, 5, 8, 9, 13)
  • Tom Lilly - Bass (tracks 11, 14)
  • Ray Luzier - Drums
I heard a track off of the DLR Band album on Sirius the other day, and the DJ was talking about the personnel that played on it. A young John 5 on guitar before joining M. Manson's band, and a pre-Korn Ray Luzier on drums. Apparently Dave put this out after being snubbed by Eddie and getting replaced by Cherone on that VH abomination. The DLR Band album blows that one out of the water.

Here ya go, hope you enjoy it. I don't know why this didn't get the recognition of other DLR solo projects. It may be his best.

2019, I was watching a documentary about the last remaining Juke Joints. The story starts by discussing establishments back in the 19-teens, 1920's and 1930's. With that, Robert Johnson came up and of course I knew who Robert Johnson was and the legend of the crossroads etc. That lead to me reading several things about him and reading some of his lyrics. Then I bought the collection of the all the songs he recorded "Robert Johnson The Complete Recordings" and started listening them and the words and damn. Everyone seems to have stolen, sorry, borrowed things from him. A lot of things plus, there's some spooky stuff he sings about.
