Got offered this LP in a deal...does it look legit?

Indeed, it is awful. The off tone gold knobs are bad, but the pickguard is really awful. Luckily, it comes with the original parts.

Was wondering why you asked if it was legit. Because something about the seller seamed fishy or something or, when you have access to all the knowledge, why not ask, OR, the price is just too good to be true? And I'm thinking don't worry if the price is low, guy probably kept lowering the price because nobody would buy it, because of the pickguard.

I know a lot about Gibsons, but I also know there are a ton of fakes out there and it is always best to ask around with some guitar players to see if anyone spots anything off. I can spot the shitty ones, but I'm always cautious these days. I figure the more people see the pics, the better.

The price is good, but that is probably a mix of the pick guard choice and the fact that the guy lives in a village you can't get to by car (gondola or funicular train), so the market is very small of people that would go there to even look at it, let alone buy it. Seller is keen on an in person deal.

My golden rule: never accept in-person-deals, local collection or alternative pay method. If they are able to list it, they surely can manage to send it to you. I am always willing to pay for shipping.

I emailed the photos and info to the Gibson custom shop and they tell me it is a real 2009 LP custom and the serial number matches the custom shop production log where it is listed as an alpine white custom.
Now that you've ensured it's legit, when are you bringing it home?

I would be way more concerned if someone didn't want in-person. Seller believes they will get top dollar if buyer can inspect, play it, because, it's one of the good ones.
